21.11.2008Wien

VERBUND-Austrian Renewable Power GmbH, the renewables subsidiary of VERBUND, has announced the acquisition of three wind farms in eastern Lower Austria on 21 November 2008. In concrete terms, the acquisition comprises 100 percent shares in the wind farms of Bruck an der Leitha, Hollern and Petronell-Carnuntum respectively.

The three wind farms, which cover around five percent of the Austrian wind market, lie in the most easterly Lower Austrian district, Bruck an der Leitha. With an installed total capacity of 49 MW, the wind turbines deliver electricity for approximately 29,000 average Austrian households. By virtue of the environmentally-friendly electricity production, which amounts to around 105 GWh annually, CO2 emissions on the scale of approx. 67,000 tons can be avoided every year. With the purchase of the 25 wind turbines, collectively, VERBUND continues to follow its clean growth strategy and expand its production portfolio in the renewable energies segment.
