Professor Dr. Andreas Löschel holds the chair for microeconomics, especially energy and resource economics, at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster. Since 2017 he has been head of the Virtual Institute Smart Energy in North Rhine-Westphalia, and since 2011 he has been Chairman of the Federal Government’s expert commission on the monitoring process "Energy of the Future". In his keynote address, Prof. Löschel will take stock of the energy revolution and particularly touch on the fields of action where important course-setting is pending.
Dr. Joachim Pfeiffer, member of the German Parliament, has been the Economic and Energy Speaker of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group since 2014. Among other functions, Dr. Pfeiffer is also Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railways. In his impulse statement, Dr. Pfeiffer will outline his political perspective of the energy revolution in Germany, but also discuss the necessity of regional cooperation with neighbouring countries.
In his subsequent dialogue with Department Head Dr. Michael Losch, Federal Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism, and VERBUND CEO Wolfgang Anzengruber, the energy policy challenges and necessary transnational course-setting will be discussed with reference to the opening statement.
