VERBUND acquires Solarpower Holding

Austria's leading energy company continues to invest massively in photovoltaics

The 100 percent acquisition of Solarpower Holding GmbH with the subsidiaries Solarpower and iFIX-Solar fits perfectly into the VERBUND Strategy 2030. In addition to wind power, this envisages significant growth in the area of photovoltaics. 

On 16 June 2023, VERBUND announced the purchase of the Upper Austrian environmental technology company Solarpower Holding GmbH with headquarters in Feldkirchen an der Donau. The two companies are connected by the common goal to shape and mould the domestic energy landscape with sustainability in mind. 

The subsidiary MSP Solarpower GmbH is a complete provider of PV systems, from customer-specific consulting, planning and installation to the initial operation of turnkey facilities. The second associated company, iFIX-Solar GmbH, is a wholesaler with long-term relationships with manufacturers of PV modules, inverters and substructures. For VERBUND, this acquisition means more independence from the currently fraught market situation regarding the availability of components and specialists. 

Solarpower Holding GmbH supplements the tried-and-tested VERBUND PV team with new applications and perspectives in the realisation of photovoltaic solutions. Since 2009, the PV installer, project planner and wholesaler has installed more than 3,000 photovoltaic systems across Austria with a total output of 43 MWp. The many years of employee know-how in the planning, processing of funding applications and installation through to initial operation and fault-free operation of 120 ongoing contracting facilities now rounds off the VERBUND PV offering.
