VERBUND: Specialists for the energy transition

For the energy transition to succeed, we need specialists. Forty-nine apprentices, including 8 women, are starting their dual professional training in the company’s own apprentice workshops: 24 in Ybbs, 17 in Kaprun and 8 in Töging.
VERBUND traditionally marks the first day of training with the festive presentation of the apprenticeship contracts to the new apprentices. Over four years of training, they will complete apprenticeships in electrical engineering and metals technology in the company’s apprentice workshops.
“The big challenge of our time is the energy transition and we look forward to addressing it with committed young people,” says Michael Amerer, Managing Director of VERBUND Hydro Power GmbH and Apprentice Officer of the Group in his welcome speech. “With us, the future power plant operators get the tools they need for two professions. We are especially proud of the comprehensive training in the operational practice of our power plants,” says Michael Amerer. In keeping with daily requirements in the power plant, the training is digitalised. On day one, the apprentices are given their own iPad, which has become as much a part of contemporary training as a screwdriver.
The excellent pass rate and the wealth of awards for our graduates proves the quality of the apprenticeship.
A total of 49 apprentices, including 8 woman, are starting their training at the VERBUND locations in Ybbs-Persenbeug (LA), Kaprun (Salzburg) and Töging am Inn (Bavaria) this year.

Modern teaching requirements also need modern means. Alongside the modern apprentice workshop, VERBUND is investing in attractive apprentice lodgings in Ybbs, right on the Danube. The accommodation for 40 apprentices, with lecture halls and event space, has already been built and should be ready to move into in 2024.
