25.10.2016Vienna

VERBUND is the best energy supply company in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and ranks among the top 6% of Austrian companies in 2016

The Carbon Disclosure Project once again rated VERBUND as one of the leading companies internationally in the area of climate protection. VERBUND received the so-called Leadership Status with the highest rating, A.
The CDP is a non-profit organisation which annually collects and analyses comprehensive climate data on the 500 largest listed companies in the world on behalf of institutional investors. According to CDP, more than 800 investors with fund assets totalling approximately 100 billion U.S. dollars currently incorporate this information in their investment decisions.

"We are pleased to receive this recognition from the Carbon Disclosure Project", says VERBUND Chairman of the Board Wolfgang Anzengruber. "VERBUND is Austria's leading electric company and a leading hydropower energy producer in Europe. We are already generating about 95 % of our electricity with hydropower, complemented by wind power."

Susan Dreyer, CDP DACH Region Director: "With a score of 'A' in the 2016 Climatic Change Reporting, VERBUND AG has achieved the status of 'Sector Leader Utilities' in the DACH region and the status of 'Index/Country Leader' for Austria. This means that VERBUND AG is the best energy supply company (utility) in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and it ranks among the top 6% of companies in Austria this year."

As a Sector/Index/Country Leader, a company demonstrates a high level of transparency in conjunction with actually performed climate protection achievements, such as objectives, measures for emissions reduction and/or verification of the reported data in comparison with other companies from the same sector. This is to recognise a company's outstanding achievements in the context of an industry, country, or index comparison, with regard to its initiation of strategies and measures to adapt to or combat climate change, as well as efforts to improve the data validity. CDP Climate Scores are awarded on a scale from A to F (A, A-, B, B-, C, C-, D, D-, F).
