Clean Industrial Deal – A turnaround for the European site?
In December 2024, the new European Commission started with an ambitious plan: a Clean Industrial Deal is to be presented within the first 100 days of its new mandate. It is intended not only to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness globally, but also to ensure that the ambitious Green Deal targets – climate neutrality by 2050 – are achieved at the same time. At the end of January, the EU Commission published an overarching strategy for the planned measures, action plans and approaches under the new Commission mandate in its first communication, the Competitiveness Compass.

The global competitiveness of Europe as an industrial location is increasingly under pressure, as the recently published Draghi Report amply demonstrated. At the same time, the comprehensive and in-depth energy transition needs to be advanced and implemented with the aim of making Europe climate-neutral by 2050.
