Sustainable Rivermanagement is a project under the scientific direction of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences and e3 consult, which VERBUND Hydro Power GmbH co-financed as one of the consortium partners.
Achieving the environmental targets of the EU Water Framework Directive is essential for the national climate targets and for the implementation of the EU’s energy and climate packages. Over many years of cooperation between science, power generators and the authorities, the understanding of the different interests has been deepened and meaningful, efficient solutions for the implementation discussed. A method has been developed which compares the ecological effects or the ecological improvement potential of individual surge-absorbing measures with the corresponding system-relevant as well as economic and business effects.
