VERBUND-Supervisory-Board informs about Executive Board

Today, the Supervisory Board of VERBUND AG has appointed the members of the Executive Board and their respective terms and responsibilities from 1 January 2019 onwards: "We saw a large number of highly qualified, external and internal applications for the published VERBUND board positions. The Supervisory Board has made a majority decision. We appointed the most suitable Management Team for Austria's largest electricity company", said Dr. Gerhard Roiss, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. "Our decision confirms the strategic and successful continuation of the company's course and sends a signal of renewal with expertise for future challenges such as innovation, technology, digitization and energy policy."
Dipl. Ing Wolfgang ANZENGRUBER (62) has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board for another two years until 31.12.2020. It is his third term after his first appointment in 2009. CEO Wolfgang Anzengruber will be responsible for Strategy, Corporate & Legal Affairs, Internal Audit & Compliance and HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) and will chair the Supervisory Boards of VERBUND Hydro Power and VERBUND Thermal Power.
Dr. Peter F. KOLLMANN (56) has been Chief Financial Officer VERBUND since 2014 and has been appointed CFO for three more years until 31.12.2021 with an extension option for two additional years until 31.12.2023. Finance, Controlling, Mergers and Acquisitions and Investor Relations as well as Austrian Power Grid and VERBUND Services will be his responsibilities.
Mag. Dr. Michael STRUGL (54) has been appointed as a Member of the Executive Board and Vice Chairman of the Executive Board for three years until 31.12.2021 with an extension option for two additional years until 31.12.2023. He will be responsible for Energy Economics, Human Resources, Innovation & New Business, Marketing & Communications as well as Trading, Sales and New Business Solutions.
Mag. Dr. Michael Strugl has been Deputy Governor of Upper Austria since April 2017 and is responsible for economics, employment, research, science, energy, tourism, sports and Europe. He has been a Member of the Upper Austrian Government since 2001 and held the important offices for economics, employment, tourism, regional development and Europe.
Michael Strugl has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the energy-supplier Energie AG since 2009 and has been functioning as its chairman since March 2018. He studied social sciences and economics as well as law at the Johannes Kepler University Linz and international finance at the University of Toronto. Michael Strugl is married and has two children.
Mag. Dr. Achim KASPAR (53) has been appointed as a Member of the Executive Board for three years until 31.12. 2021 with an extension option for two additional years until 31.12.2023. He will be responsible for the new digitalization department and the VERBUND generation portfolio.
Dr. Achim Kaspar has been General Manager of Cisco Austria, the Austrian subsidiary of the world's leading technology company Cisco, as well as Cisco Croatia and Slovenia since 2008. Born in Carinthia, he studied business administration in Graz and started his career in the telecommunication sector of VERBUND. Later on he was Managing Director of MCI / WorldCom Austria GmbH. From 2002-2007, Kaspar was the Managing Director of eTel Austria AG and headed the strategic and technical competence centre for Central Europe. From 2007-2008 he led the integration of eTel Austria AG into Telekom Austria AG. Achim Kaspar is married and has two sons.
The terms of Dr. Ing. Johann Sereinig, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Dr. Günther Rabensteiner, member of the Executive Board, will end as planned on 31 December 2018 and not be prolonged for reasons of age.
