Heinzel Energy is installing e-mobility charging points in Laakirchen
With the initial operation of 14 charging points next to Laakirchen Papier AG, the energy sister company of the Upper Austrian paper factory is sending out clear signals for zero-emission mobility in Laakirchen and the region. Together with the implementation partner VERBUND, Heinzel Energy festively commissioned charging pillars for electric cars – powered by the company’s own hydropower plant just a few metres further along – in the middle of September.
Sustainability is right at the top of the agenda of the committed Upper Austrian paper maker, which spotted the signs of the times very early on and invested consistently in energy efficiency, resource conservation, the circular economy and renewable energies. “Expanding and using renewable energies is really important to us. As an ecological pioneer, we have gradually expanded photovoltaics, wind and hydropower in recent years. Here at the site in Laakirchen alone, we generate around 50 GWh of green electricity from hydropower and PV every year. Electromobility is the next logical step on this journey,” explains Christoph Heinzel, managing director of Heinzel Energy. “In VERBUND, we have a strong partner who is accompanying us on the way to zero-emission mobility with a complete solution.”
Green mobility – easy and tailored for everyone
VERBUND-Business-Charging powered by SMATRICS comprises charging points with intelligent charge management, a 24-hour hotline, operation, monitoring, billing and reporting. Drivers of the Heinzel fleet vehicles, employees and customers as well as the general public benefit from the total of 14 charging points. Employees have exclusive use of four charging points; another 10 charging points are available to the general public. Including a high-power charging point (300 kW) that enables very fast charging – a hundred kilometres of range in just 5 minutes. Fleet drivers charge using the VERBUND charging card, either at the site in Laakirchen or across Austria in the SMATRICS EnBW charging network and beyond Austria’s borders. The electricity for the charging points in Laakirchen comes directly from the “Danzermühl” hydropower plant of Heinzel Energy on the Traun.
