Charging solutions for future-proof residential rental properties
Electrifying collaboration between VERBUND and PAYUCA
Electromobility is picking up speed
According to Statistik Austria, more than 34,000 electric cars were registered in Austria alone in 2022. Thus more than 113,000 electric cars are already on the roads across Austria. New registrations of electric cars are growing much faster than those of cars with combustion engines. Along with the interest in electric cars, there is also a growing need for charging options. Apart from fast charging points for charging on long-distance journeys, charging at home is also especially important because most charging procedures take place at home when the appropriate infrastructure is available. That is why VERBUND is expanding its charging infrastructure portfolio and enabling simple charging at home with the all-in-one solution called VERBUND Immo-Charging.
Charging electric cars safely and conveniently.
Together with the collaborating partner PAYUCA, VERBUND is opening up convenient charging for long-stay parkers in tenancies. Housing associations and their tenants are benefiting from this innovative cooperation. The leading full-service provider PAYUCA, an established partner of the Austrian housing sector, has set itself the goal of making off-street parking and e-charging as easy as possible. Property owners and building managers thus have the possibility to cost-effectively prepare their parking spaces in underground garages or outdoors for the ramp-up of electromobility and to manage long-term parking spaces simply and digitally. This gives rise to no additional expense and only marginal one-off costs for future-orientated housing associations, neither for planning and installation nor for operation of the charging points. At the same time, they increase and secure the value or their properties for the long term.
“With the expansion of the PAYUCA partnership, we are raising our charging infrastructure to a new level. It is important to us to offer future-proof and practical solutions so that electromobility becomes attractive for all users; this is because electromobility is an important key to sustainably reducing the energy consumption and CO2 emissions of private transport,” emphasises Martin Wagner, managing director of VERBUND Energy4Business. “As a pioneer in the topic of green electricity, we are making mobility climate neutral and as convenient as possible with our full-service offers.”
First e-parking spaces already available
One of the first joint projects, for example, involved the electrification of 18 parking spaces in the underground car park of a rental apartment building at Erdberger Lände in Vienna’s 3rd district. Tenants can already book a wallbox subscription at PAYUCA and thus charge at home in comfort. Among the innovative property customers is Art-Invest Real Estate, whose property portfolio includes the well-known Millennium Tower. The fitting out of further properties is in full swing.
With Immo-Charging, VERBUND is rounding out its offering of charging infrastructure and positioning itself as a complete provider for all matters to do with energy and sustainability. Apart from electricity, gas, photovoltaics and storage, customers also benefit from VERBUND's expertise in e-mobility and enjoy all the advantages of sustainable locomotion.
Technical operation by SMATRICS
The technical implementation partner is the 75%-owned VERBUND subsidiary SMATRICS, which provides charging point control and charge card administration via its internally developed software solution charVIS and is responsible for the smooth and flawless operation of the wallboxes. The electricity for the charging of electric vehicles is 100 percent green electricity from VERBUND.
VERBUND has been advancing the topic of electromobility or more than 10 years. As Austria's leading energy company with 97% of electricity generation from renewables, VERBUND sees the future of mobility in the networking of non-motorised mobility, public transport and zero-emission propulsion on the basis of renewable energies. Together with partners from research and industry, VERBUND is developing infrastructure and concrete applications suitable for everyday use. The focus here is on decarbonising the energy system by coupling the energy and transport sectors, in order to achieve the Austrian and international climate targets.
