Greifenstein: VERBUND power plant bridge closed
29.09.2023Stockerau, St. Andrä-Wördern
Water damage on the carriageway of the Danube power plant Greifenstein requires urgent repair. VERBUND regrets the need to completely close the Danube crossing for this. The work will be carried out as quickly as possible.
The carriageway of the Greifenstein power plant, which was completed in 1985, is leaking. Water ingress into the electrical drive compartments poses a danger for power plant operation and repairs must therefore be carried out without delay. Regrettably, closing the power plant crossing in the area of the construction site is unavoidable for safety reasons.
Appropriate signage has been placed along the Danube cycle path. In order to complete the work quickly and minimise the inconvenience, the repair work has been deliberately scheduled for the autumn towards the end of the holiday season and before the cold weather sets in.
We are apologise for the inconvenience this may cause local residents and are grateful for their cooperation.
