TTTech and VERBUND start joint venture: Real-time energy platform bridges gap between industry and energy suppliers.

15.01.2025Vienna

The strategic joint venture TTTech ZYNE combines the know-how of two market leaders: The comprehensive expertise of Austria's largest energy supplier VERBUND in the energy market and in the integration of renewable energies and the know-how of the globally active Viennese high-tech company TTTech in industrial automation and systems for safety-critical applications. TTTech ZYNE will offer a reliable and secure real-time energy management solution from mid-2025 that acts as a bridge between industry, energy suppliers, and municipal utilities.

The energy market faces major challenges due to rising electricity prices, volatile markets, and the increasing integration of renewable energies. Energy costs are becoming a decisive locational factor, even as requirements for efficiency, sustainability, and secure, trustworthy solutions for critical infrastructures are increasing. Real-time data plays a key role: it enables companies to react flexibly to market signals, avoid balancing energy costs, and dynamically adjust energy flows. TTTech ZYNE tackles these issues with an approach that combines state-of-the-art technologies with in-depth market knowledge.

Partnership for the energy transition

TTTech ZYNE combines the central competencies of two leading companies: VERBUND and TTTech.

Michael Strugl, CEO of VERBUND, highlights the strategic importance of the cooperation: “This partnership is a central component of our strategy to actively drive the transformation of the energy market and contribute to climate neutrality in Europe. The investment supports us in further expanding our market position as a leading provider of smart energy management solutions for industrial customers and energy suppliers. At the same time, we are taking an important step towards making grid stability and optimization of our customers' energy consumption more efficient and sustainable.”

Technological excellence meets energy market know-how

Georg Kopetz, CEO and co-founder of TTTech, considers the joint venture as a very important extension of TTTech’s existing competencies and markets: “TTTech contributes decades of experience in the development of highly reliable real-time systems and edge systems. Our technology enables, with increasingly, AI-enhanced software, to react dynamically and reliably to changes, which is of crucial importance in the volatile energy market. With TTTech ZYNE and in cooperation with VERBUND, we offer a solution for the triple transition, the sustainable and digitalized transformation of our energy system, and are strengthening our activities in Green Tech.”

Franz Zöchbauer, Managing Director of VERBUND X Ventures, adds, “TTTech ZYNE is a strategic investment in the future of energy supply. The platform bridges the highly dynamic world of renewable energies and industry requirements. This partnership opens up completely new opportunities to realize value creation potential in the energy market and to make companies fit for the challenges of the energy transformation.”

A new energy management generation

TTTech ZYNE provides a real-time energy management system for the smart control of the production, storage, and consumption of energy. It is a platform solution that enables significant cost savings for medium-sized industrial and commercial companies, energy suppliers, and municipal utilities through smart and cross-site energy management.

Tobias Birsak, Managing Director TTTech ZYNE describes the product’s functionalities: “Our aim is to offer our customers maximum flexibility and cost savings. Our solution revolutionizes energy management by enabling the optimization of the energy system at different levels – from local customer installations behind the meter to entire balance groups. The platform offers smart control of energy flows and makes renewable energy available at the exact time it can be used most efficiently. This enables not only consumption optimization, but also dynamic control of self-generated electricity and flexibility commercialization, as well as innovative tariff models from energy suppliers that optimize their electricity trading through real-time energy data and thus significantly reduce energy costs for industrial companies.”

TTTech ZYNE has already successfully integrated its first reference customer into the platform and will present the results in February 2025 at E-World Energy & Water in Essen. The official product launch will take place in May 2025 at The smarter E – Europe/Intersolar in Munich.
